Stoneman to Test Renault World Series
2010 F2 Champion to test with ISR in Spain
First outing since being sidelined through Illness
Dean Stoneman is to make a return to motorsport for the first time in 2011 after taking time away from racing to recover from illness.
The 21-year old will join the ISR team for the forthcoming World Series Renault 3.5 test at the Motorland Circuit, Spain 29th & 30th November. The test will signify Stoneman’s return to action after he underwent major surgery, plus two courses of Chemotherapy to treat Testicular Cancer for which he was diagnosed in January this year.
“We are obviously delighted that Dean will return for the test with ISR ,” said Stoneman’s Manager Stephen Noakes. He added: “Since his operation Dean has been slowly recovering and working on his fitness and he now feels the time is now right to get back into the car and use the test as part of his rehabilitation for 2012. ISR have been tremendous in keeping the door open for Dean this year and we thank them for their amazing support during a very testing year.”
Stoneman will drive the 2011 Renault 3.5 at the Aragon Circuit on both days of the test before assessing his plans for 2012. The 21 year-old’s last appearance was in an impressive 2010 F1 rookie test with AT&T Williams car in Abu Dhabi.
