Stoneman Undergoes Surgery
1st September 2011
Formula 2 Champion Dean Stoneman is recovering at his Hampshire home after undergoing major surgery at Spire Southampton Hospital.
The 21-year old driver underwent the planned operation following two courses of Chemotherapy to treat Testicular Cancer which was diagnosed in January this year.
“Dean is recovering well,” said Stoneman’s Manager Stephen Noakes. He added: “Dean’s body has responded incredibly well to the eight months of almost constant treatment. This has allowed the operation to finally take place. The procedure removed all of the affected tissue and it has been deemed very successful by his specialists. This is a major step forward on the road to full recovery, but Dean has to relax now, which to anybody who knows him can appreciate will not be easy! ”
Soon after returning home last weekend the reigning F2 Champion fuelled his desire to return to racing, by watching the Belgian F1 Grand Prix with his friends and family on TV.
Stoneman will continue to be monitored by his specialists including regular tests.
Dean and the Stoneman family would like to thank everybody for their kind messages and continued support.
